Dr. Steven Shake has proudly called Owensboro home since 1992, when he helped launch the first Walmart optical center in Kentucky. After years of serving the community through Eye Mart, Steven opened Owensboro Family Eye Care in 2002. With the support of a loyal patient base and one of the hardest-working teams in the Commonwealth, he built a successful local business rooted in service, integrity, and care.

Steven believes in investing in people and community — values that have guided both his professional life and his commitment to public service. He understands the challenges facing families, small businesses, and rural communities because he’s lived them firsthand.

He and his wife Joanna have been married for over 14 years. Their two children, Riley and Connor, are both pursuing advanced degrees and carrying on the family’s commitment to education and hard work.

At home, Steven enjoys time with his golden doodle, Mayberry, and believes in the importance of faith, family, and a future built on common sense and Kentucky values.

Steven and Joanna are members of Panther Creek Baptist Church where Joanna teaches Sunday School and Steven is chairman of the deacons.
